Plastic Surgery Journey

Every single cosmetic procedures  conducted revealed

I felt a pull towards being open and honest about all the procedures I have had over the years. In this blog I will disclose all plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures I have had, who conducted them and my personal beliefs of both industries. Here we go baby and I do need to tell you a backstory to give you context to how my plastic surgery journey started.
~
I was about 3 yrs old and Dad was in the kitchen fixing my sisters wrist watch. He was at the bench and yelled out to my Mum, "Lin watch Em, I am just going out to the garage", Mum obviously didn't hear and I was left to my own devices. This in itself was trouble, one time I drank a whole bottle of my sick brothers kidney medication and then consumed a whole packet of paracetamol. I had my stomach pumped after that ordeal. I was labeled the devil child after that and to be honest it was very true.

I quickly figured out, I can pull out all the draws and make a stairway to kitchen bench heaven. I climbed up and found shiny treasure. By this stage Dad was on his way back from the garage and saw me through the kitchen window. In the deep Dad voice, "what are you doing" and just as quickly I hid the shiny treasure. About an hour past and Dad came back out to Mum, asking if she had seen a watch battery he left on the bench. That was when devil child aka me walked past sniffing because the watch battery was stuck in my nose. Dad knew what I had done and instantly he and Mum tried to get it out. Hours past and the watch battery was still stuck in my nose. My nose started to bleed, so they decided to take me to ED, I was sedated and the watch battery was removed pretty quickly. No harm done right... wrong. It wasn't until years later we found out how much damage this had caused.

I mean how could this little doll be such a terror!

Nose bleeds started when I was 17 and Mum thought it has something to do with puberty. They were lasting for hours and we went to our GP, he sent me to an ENT specialist and we soon discovered what had happened all those years ago from the watch battery. The ENT specialist sprayed the most vial spray down my nose to my throat and stuck his camera down. He looked shocked and immediately asked Mum and Dad to step outside. They all came back in and the ENT specialist said, Emma if I didn't read your file I would think you were a party animal. I didn't at the time know what he meant. Anyway, he goes on to say you have lost a portion of your septum, the watch battery leaked and battery acid had burnt away at your septum. What I can do now for you is stop the bleeding and when your older you will need to come back. I quickly had a septoplasty and burned the exposed vessels and it worked, I had no more bleeds!

Little Em at big day out and this is my nose as it was before surgery

It is now 2014 and the bleeds have started again, this time much worse and I couldn't breathe. Back to the GP I went and was referred to a different ENT specialist, Dr Tobias Pincok in Sydney. It took so long to get an appointment and waiting was worthwhile. Dr Pincok looked and he had the same reaction as the ENT specialist years before. He said straight away, "Emma I can fix this, your septum has collapsed and you need plastic surgery". "I will make your nose as it would have been before all this trauma and I might have to take cartilage from your ribs or ears to fix this". He then took some photos of my face and side profile, we had them on a big screen and he showed me the changes. I felt excited and scared the the same time. What if I don't like the changes or people don't know who I am because I look different.

Straight after Mum took a cute close up, I didn't experience the bruised eyes but my face was very puffy

At 24 I had plastic surgery on my nose, I had a rhinoplasty and a second septoplasty. The surgery went well and it was onto the 6 week recovery after, you wear a little nose plast for a while. The worst part was the packing removal which went up into my sinuses and I believe is much better now and is all dissolvable.

Fast forward from 2014 to 2021 and I fully healed and love my new button nose. I can breathe and there is no chance this sucker is falling off! I also have had braces in high school, cosmetic procedures including lip fillers and well before most people were getting them done. I had my fillers done by a plastic surgeon. I have recently started botox injections mostly to stop my squinty eyes and lastly my eyebrows are tattooed, first done at Eyebrow Bali by Natasha which I loved and after two years they faded. I recently had them redone in Cairns and I am obsessed.
This is me now in 2021 cute button nose, lip filler, botox and tattooed brows

My personal belief is the cosmetic industry changes lives and in a positive way. Especially in my experience and even if it wasn't traumatic people have the right to healthy choices for their body and how it looks. Especially if it is something causing them pain which doesn't always have to be a physical pain. Disclaimer, I also never hated myself for what I looked like I have always been confident, I want to look and feel more myself. I am ALL FOR plastic and cosmetic procedures. I do ask you make sure you're doing it for yourself and not to look like anyone else. I will lastly say do your research and look at how many reviews a place has or ask around. It doesn't matter if you are here in Australia or over in Bali it is a huge industry and you want someone who has done it for years. Pay that bit more for long lasting results.
